The FaB conference took place within a London television studio for an audience of 300 invited guests. This internal communication event incorporated a live chat on stage, Q & A sessions, clips shown on the screen and an award ceremony. The brief was to create a set with a ‘wow factor’, incorporating 3D elements, branding and a having a glamorous, sparkling feel. The event had to look great on camera as this was being filmed and narrowcast. The combination of a star-cloth as backdrop and three giant front-lit cylinders (each with stretched hi-res prints), as well as internally lit furniture on stage answered the brief fully. Full 3D visuals were created prior to the event for approval. Although his speech certainly had impact – it was widely reported – we feel compelled to point out the less than perfect backdrop… wobbly, wrinkled, reflecting light and unforgiving on camera. A very good example of simply not thinking this through properly… It goes without saying we’d be delighted to speak either with the Prime Minister’s office or the CSJ regarding what we believe a proper backdrop should look like: great on camera, well lit and providing a great space to promote a logo, organisation or message… :-)
